Players who opt for the cheaper PS4/Xbox One version of Hogwarts Legacy should still be able to play the game on PS5/Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility. An upgrade path allows gamers still using last-gen hardware to buy the game for their current console and carry on playing when they eventually get hold of a next-gen system. The one exception is Hogwarts Mystery, but, being limited to mobile platforms, it simply can’t compete with Legacy.A free, or even paid, next-gen upgrade is particularly useful for gamers still hunting a PS5 restock or Xbox Series X restock.
Most existing HP games are rehashes of the novels, with no unique content. Legacy is playable on PC, as well as the latest PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Are you going to save Hogwarts, or condemn it? That’s a choice you need to make.
Since this is your legacy, your decisions determine how the story unfolds. One of the game’s best features is its replay value. You can either use this unique power for good or turn to darker, more sinister spells and potions instead. Luckily, your character has an affinity for ancient magic. Evil forces threaten everything you care about, and you need to stop them by doing various missions and quests. You’ll get to create your character, go to Hogwarts, learn magic, and explore a very different wizarding world.
Instead of being another rehash of the books, it’s set somewhere in the 1800s. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, this is probably the game you’ve been waiting for since the last HP titles. Experience the wonders of the wizarding world as you learn to conjure magic, fight enemies, and create your own Hogwarts Legacy.
